Citronella verbena is a flowering plant that grows as a shrub 2-3 m tall. The botanical name of the plant is Aloysia citrodora and it belongs to the verbena family of Verbenaceae. The plant has long, shiny leaves that give off a lemon scent when rubbed. Lemon verbena blooms in late spring or early summer, when tiny lilac-white flowers appear along the stem. The leaves of the plant are commonly used to flavor fish and poultry, for marinades, dressings and various drinks.
