Collection: Gasoline Fragrances

The note of gasoline in perfumery is truly distinctive and carries a surprising appeal for many, tapping into our subconscious affinity for the smell of urban life. It delivers a sharp, powerful aroma that is intrinsically potent and industrial, echoing the ethereal and slightly sweet scent of petrol. There's a metallic edge to it, reminiscent of the chilly touch of a fuel nozzle. Beneath this, one can discern a rich, oily facet, which resonates with the dense, liquid aspect of fuel. The scent of gasoline can lend a unique, rebelliously modern character to a fragrance, veering away from traditional natural aromas, and appealing to those seeking a scent experience that mirrors the edgy intensity of urban living.

About Gasoline Fragrances

Genet — known botanically as Spartium junceum and commonly called Spanish broom — is a flowering shrub native to the Mediterranean basin, producing cascades of intensely fragrant golden-yellow blossoms each spring. The absolute extracted from genet flowers is one of perfumery's most opulent and difficult-to-work-with materials: an overwhelmingly rich, honey-sweet, narcotic floral with animalic undertones, reminiscent of jasmine and orange blossom but darker, wilder, and more complex.

In fragrance, genet absolute is a traditional material in classical French perfumery, used to add lush, sensuous depth to floral bouquets. Its animalic facets — reminiscent of indolic jasmine at its most carnal — give genet-forward compositions a heady, almost intoxicating character that was particularly prized in the grand florals of the mid-20th century. Perfumers use genet to add weight and narcotic sweetness to chypres, white florals, and orientals. It combines magnificently with ylang ylang, rose absolute, and civet-type musks.

Fragrenza's Genet collection captures the heady, honeyed intensity of Spanish broom in a selection of fine fragrance dupes. These are rich, maximalist florals for those who love depth, sweetness, and a touch of animalic allure — all available at accessible prices.
