Collection: Greengage Fragrances

The perfume note of Greengage offers a juicy, sweet aroma that encapsulates the essence of this much-loved summer fruit. It bursts forth with a rich, plum-like scent, reminiscent of freshly picked fruit warmed by the sun, offering an aroma that's both enticing and uplifting. This initial sweetness is nuanced by a subtle tartness, reflecting the fruit's slightly sour skin. As the scent matures, it reveals a hint of soft, green undertones, echoing the fruit's unripe state. The Greengage note infuses fragrances with a sense of sun-kissed abundance and playful zest, its scent capturing the nostalgic joy of a summer orchard in full bloom.

About Greengage Fragrances

Greengage is a variety of plum believed to have originated in Armenia before making its way to Western Europe via Persia and France, where it became a prized delicacy in French orchards. Named in England after Sir William Gage, who introduced it in the early eighteenth century, the greengage is celebrated for its distinctive pale green-gold skin and exceptionally sweet, honeyed flesh with a delicate floral undertone. It is smaller and more refined than most plums, with a flavour profile that has no real equal in the stone fruit world.

In perfumery, greengage offers a uniquely elegant fruity note — sweeter and more honeyed than a typical green plum, yet retaining a gentle, fresh tartness that keeps it clean and sophisticated. Its slightly floral, almost mirabelle-like quality means it bridges the world of stone fruit and white flowers beautifully. It appears in summery, light-touch compositions as well as in more structured chypres where its graceful sweetness complements mossy and woody bases. The greengage note rewards subtle treatment, adding luminosity and tenderness to blends.

At Fragrenza, our greengage collection showcases dupe interpretations of fragrances where this beautiful, understated fruit note shines. Discover the quiet elegance of greengage perfumery, crafted to high standards and offered at prices that welcome everyone into the garden.
