About Guerlain Fragrances

Guerlain is the oldest and most storied fragrance house in the world — a dynasty founded in Paris in 1828 by Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain that has, over nearly two centuries, created more than 325 original perfumes and trained five generations of in-house perfumers. From a small shop on the Rue de Rivoli, Guerlain quickly attracted the most distinguished clientele in Paris and beyond, earning the patronage of Empress Eugenie and Napoleon III and establishing the house as the undisputed standard-bearer of French perfumery. No other fragrance house has maintained such a continuous tradition of in-house creation across so many generations.

The Guerlain style is unlike any other in perfumery — a distinctive accord known as the Guerlinade, built around a base of vanilla, iris, rose, and musks that gives Guerlain fragrances a characteristic creaminess, warmth, and powdery sensuality that is immediately recognisable. This signature runs through the house's most beloved creations: Shalimar, the iconic oriental of 1925 built on bergamot, iris, vanilla, and civet; Mitsouko, the legendary chypre of 1919 considered by many perfumers to be the greatest fragrance ever made; L'Heure Bleue, the melancholy, violet-powdered marvel of 1912; and Jicky, created in 1889 — the world's oldest continuously sold perfume.

Under the guidance of master perfumers from the Guerlain family — most recently the remarkable Thierry Wasser, who joined as house perfumer in 2008 — the brand has continued to create works of exceptional artistry while honouring its unparalleled heritage. The Aqua Allegoria collection, Mon Guerlain, and the exquisite Les Absolus d'Orient demonstrate Guerlain's continued creative vitality and its ability to speak to contemporary tastes without ever losing its soul.

At Fragrenza, our Guerlain-inspired fragrances celebrate this magnificent heritage — capturing the warmth, the powdery elegance, and the unmistakable Guerlinade character at a price that invites you to wear history every day.
