Bourbon Vanilla Fragrances

Bourbon vanilla is the cured seed pod of a climbing orchid (Vanilla planifolia), grown on the islands of the western Indian Ocean, above all Madagascar and Reunion, once known as Ile Bourbon. The green pods are picked unripe and slowly cured over weeks, a process that coaxes out vanillin and their deep aroma.

Its scent is warm, sweet, and creamy, built on a soft balsamic richness laced with facets of caramel, dried fruit, and a faintly boozy, rum-like warmth. On skin it unfolds slowly, rounded and comforting, with a tobacco-tinged depth in the dry-down.

In perfumery, vanilla is a cornerstone base note and the heart of the gourmand and oriental families, valued for the warmth and lasting sweetness it lends a composition. It blends beautifully with tonka, sandalwood, and amber, and softens spices, woods, and white florals alike.
