Tokaji wine Fragrances

Tokaji wine is the celebrated sweet, golden wine of the Tokaj region in northeastern Hungary, made from grapes shrivelled by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). As a perfumery note it is an accord rather than a single raw material: a reconstruction of the wine's aroma, blended from several aromatic ingredients to capture its rich, dessert-like character.

Its scent is honeyed and luscious, brimming with apricot, candied orange peel, and dried fruits, wrapped in a syrupy sweetness and a soft, boozy warmth. Faintly saffron-tinged and ambery, it grows mellow and faintly nutty as it settles on the skin.

In composition, this golden accord lives in the heart and base, lending opulence to gourmand, fruity, and oriental fragrances. It pairs naturally with stone fruits, honey, and dried fruits, and deepens beautifully against amber, vanilla, and warm woods.
